Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup (60g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips (and nuts if using) over the top.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not overcook; the brownies should be soft in the center.
- Let cool in pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
- For fudgier brownies, reduce the flour to 1/3 cup.
- Adding coffee enhances the chocolate flavor. Mix in a teaspoon of instant coffee granules with the cocoa powder if desired.
- Store brownies in an airtight container to keep them moist and fudgy.
